How it works
Rare Metals Mfg. Co. is a family-owned business specializing in recycling tungsten carbide scrap into ammonium paratungstate (APT). Rishi Raj Sharma started the company in 1983. After his passing in 2023, it continues under the proprietorship of his wife, Rekha Sharma.
Their son, Amit Sharma, lives in Texas and manages the commercial side of the business, including sales, procurement, customer communication, and sample coordination. Manufacturing takes place at our plant in Peenya Industrial Estate, Bengaluru, India.
Our mark has been with us since 1983. It is a shatkona: two interlocking triangles, an ancient Indian symbol for the union of two complementary forces. The same figure appears in many traditions around the world, including early chemistry, where the upward triangle stood for fire and the downward triangle for water. At its center is a laboratory flask, for the chemistry that turns worn carbide tools into high-purity APT.
